The PowerShares Global Progressive Transportation Portfolio (PTRP) is an exchange traded fund (ETF) investing in companies believed to benefit substantially from a transition toward using cleaner, less costly and more efficient means of transportation.
The fund seeks to replicate the performance of the Wilder NASDAQ OMX Global Energy Efficient Transport Index (HAUL). The companies included in the index focus on technologies for utilization of greener, more-efficient sources of energy for transportation designed to improve energy efficiency of transportation. Thus the companies aim to reduce the costs for fuel or time in transit and include renewable energy harvesting or production, energy conversion, energy storage, improvements in energy efficiency, power delivery, energy conservation and monitoring of energy information.
June 30, 2009 the avarage P/E ratio of the fund was 14.12 and P/B ratio 1.98. The expense ratio is 0.75%.
The top five holdings of the fund are BYD Co. Ltd. 4.23%, GS Yuasa Corp. 3.86%, Merida Industry Co. Ltd. 3.85%, Giant Manufacturing Co. Ltd. 3.82%, and Shimano Inc. 3.71%. The country allocation is international, with USA at the top with 37.04% followed by Japan 12.78%, UK 8.31%, Taiwan 7.67% and Italy 5.98%.
