Invesco PowerShares (PZD) is a leading provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs). One of the most interesting funds it provides, is the PowerShares Cleantech Portfolio ETF.
The PowerShares Cleantech Portfolio is based on the Cleantech index, which is designed to identify the companies that have the greatest capital appreciation potential. Traditional environmental technologies such as air pollution control and hazardous waste management tend to be “add-ons” to existing businesses or systems — adopted primarily to address existing problems or to comply with state or federal regulations. Cleantech products and services, on the other hand, are designed to prevent these problems from occurring in the first place, creating a unique and innovative investment space.
