Munich Re is a German insurance company that offers the market risk-transfer solutions for different forms of renewable energy use. 

The transport of energy presents a yet unsolved problem in alternative energy sector. In a press release released 16 June 2009, the German insurance company Munich Re claims presents electricity produced in solar thermal power plants in North Africa and transported from there to Europe as a possibility that is no longer a distant vision but rather an technologically achievable possibility.
